“Realidad 2.0” y los cortos de animación [GIFF 2012]

Guanajuato, Gto.- Miss Bala, del director Gerardo Naranjo, fue la gran sorpresa de la XIV edición del Festival Internacional de Cine de Guanajuato (GIFF) en 2011, gracias a su particular punto de vista sobre el problema del narcotráfico.

Dicho tema ha sido tocado nuevamente en la Selección Oficial de Cortometraje de Ficción Internacional de la presente edición. En ella, el realizador estadunidense Ryan Prows presenta su trabajo Narcocorrido y el mexicano Víctor Orozco Ramírez hace lo propio con Reality 2.0.

Además de esbozar el contexto sobre la elección presidencial de 2006, mediante la que surgieron “dos presidentes, ninguno con una estrategia clara”, así como de las prácticas cada vez más comunes de los narcotraficantes para sembrar el miedo y generar una “estética de la violencia”, el cortometraje de Orozco Ramírez hace una analogía entre la guerra contra el narco que emprendió el presidente Felipe Calderón y la lucha contra el terrorismo que George Bush encabezó en Medio Oriente, las cuales habrían tenido respuestas similares por parte de los traficantes en México y Al-Qaeda en Estados Unidos, de acuerdo a la cinta.

Planteando el escenario de un país dividido en el que los conejos se convirtieron en ratas, donde el sol brillante y cálido es lo único en lo que México supera a Alemania —nación desde la que la voz narrativa del cortometraje nos cuenta los hechos que ocurren aquí a través de noticias y videos en Youtube donde se muestran torturas y ejecuciones—, Reality 2.0 es una crítica en el vacío que no busca plantear solución alguna, busca sólo hacer partícipe al espectador de la infinita desigualdad que hoy día viven los mexicanos: unos representados en el corto por ir a una plaza de toros donde al astado le crecen alas y cornea al público asistente, otros como espectadores de un jaripeo; ambos, formando parte del círculo de violencia al que alude ese toro con dos cabezas que está fuera de control: la corrupción y el narcotráfico.

Con todo, pese a la espectacularidad de dicho cortometraje, Rewday (Un día al revés) de SvilenDimitrov, procedente de Bulgaria, presenta una propuesta más sólida, al establecer mediante una narración a la inversa, la historia de un ciclista que al levantarse en la mañana con la frase “Qué día tan hermoso”, no sabe lo que le esperará al final del día. Una metáfora de lo azarosa y frágil que es la vida.

Gracias a Furhat (“La gorra”), del italiano Nico Bonomolo, conmovedora historia de guerra de dos ejércitos enemigos que encuentran afinidades en sus diferencias, la muestra de animación del GIFF 2012 subió un peldaño de nivel, al exhibir cómo la condición humana, aun en tiempos de precariedad y horror, puede encontrar vías para crear un mundo distinto; planteamiento que el realizador se encarga de sustentar durante todo el cortometraje para, hacia el final, proponer una contrahipótesis.

Sin embargo, Head overheels (“De la cabeza a los pies”), del director británico Timothy Reckart, se llevó la tarde con una inusual historia de amor, en el que una pareja de casados que vive en una suerte de dimensión con dos centros gravitatorios independientes (ella en el piso, él en el techo), tiene que vérselas con toda clase de cotidianas contrariedades, tales como mover el refrigerador hacia arriba o hacia abajo a lo largo de la pared para que ambos puedan tomar los alimentos, o como amarrarse a los muebles para ser capaces de llegar hasta donde el otro se encuentra; una luminosa alegoría sobre los avatares de vivir en pareja a través de los años y el amor que hace falta para que la emoción del principio resurja y les haga darse cuenta que, pese a las dificultades, vale la pena seguir luchando. Sin duda, uno de los trabajos contendientes para llevarse la categoría.
