Ciudad de México, 17 de septiembre, 11:00pm. Es tercer día de un agotador “puente” de fiestas patrias. Me preparo para dormir y en mi mente hay una sola cosa: “mañana, después de más de diez años de espera, X Japan pisará suelo mexicano” Sin embargo la alegría no es plena, hay una mala noticia, yo, como muchos otros seguidores de la agrupación japonesa, no cuento con boletos para asistir al concierto.

¿Cómo es eso? Una gran fan sin boletos. Las entradas estuvieron a la venta desde el mes de junio y la respuesta de sus fanáticos no se hizo esperar. Se agotaron todas las localidades en un par de días. A pesar de ello, como buena fan, y después de pasar por una serie de reacciones que iban desde indiferencia, pasando por la frustración, la envidia y el dolor, llegué a la determinación de ir a cazar boletos, no importaba si para eso debía vender mi alma a algún revendedor.

Traté de dormir lo más que pude, mi estomago estaba revuelto, mis manos congeladas, temblaba como gelatina mal cuajada y entre sueños pedía lograr mi objetivo, conseguir un boleto.

18 de septiembre, 10:00am

Desperté después de una noche intranquila. Hoy era el día, uno que estaría grabado en mi memoria para bien o para mal por el resto de mi vida. Revisé Facebook en busca de comentarios del líder de X Japan, quien horas antes publicaba su experiencia en el Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México, el cómo una gran cantidad de seguidores fue a recibirlos. Fue ahí, perdido en tal amasijo de comentarios, que encontré un pequeño mensaje de una mujer que vendía sus boletos. Estaba hecho.

Llegué al Circo Volador a las 4:00pm, el lugar estaba lleno de cientos de fanáticos que vestían con vestidos negros a petición expresa de los organizadores y del grupo porque éstos deseaban incluir su paso por México en un DVD conmemorativo como evidencia de su visita en Latinoamérica.

Aquello era un caos, marabunta de asistentes, revendedores, puestos de comida –desde elotes y hamburguesas, hasta pan al vapor y sushi–, y los comerciantes de cualquier tipo de mercancía relativa al grupo. Perdida entre todo ese desorden me dirigí hacia un miembro del staff para preguntar dónde debía formarme, cosa inútil ya que no supieron decir nada. Lo que era cierto es que pasó una hora y media y no había señales de que habría pronto acceso.

Se asignaron filas para cada tipo de boleto. Los de “X-Zone” para los afortunados que estarían junto al escenario; los que tenían “preferente” se colocarían en medio; y los generales, para la gente como yo, ocuparían en espacio vacío a lo lejos, en las alturas.

Por más de una hora bajo el sol esperamos en una fila interminable. Pero había algo en el ambiente, después de todo yo no era la única que esperaba con ansia creciente dicho momento. Los ávidos asistentes se limitaban a compartir recuerdos de su experiencia con la música de X Japan, bromas sobre la edad de los integrantes, el público ponía ambiente porque sabían que dentro de unos minutos verían un sueño convertirse en realidad.

Finalmente, sorteando con éxito la insolación, logramos ocupar nuestros lugares dentro del recinto. Me alegré al ver que las proporciones del lugar me permitirían ver con claridad el escenario. Una sonrisa complaciente se dibujó en mi rostro mientras mi estomago sufría accesos de ansiedad, mis manos se entumían y mi mente repetía “Estás aquí, es real”. Mi corazón se aceleró cuando de pronto unas figuras aparecieron en el escenario, cuál fue nuestra sorpresa al descubrir que no era la banda la que saltaba al escenario sino un grupo de mariachis que los organizadores consiguieron para dar el saludo de la casa a X Japan.

Pronto cantábamos al unísono “Cielito Lindo”, aplaudíamos, brincábamos; la energía desbordaba el lugar. Gritos como “¡Viva México!” y “¡We are X!” hacían surgir una especie de placentero nacionalismo, queríamos que nuestros ídolos jamás se olvidaran de nosotros, de México.

El mariachi abandonó el lugar, esperamos un suplicio de treinta minutos pero antes de que la multitud se amotinara, las luces del lugar desaparecieron. Mi corazón aceleró su marcha mientras el recinto se llenaba de gritos. Desde el fondo del escenario se iluminó una pantalla y en ella una majestuosa “X” se formó, todos entendíamos el código, todos sabíamos qué hacer: gritar “X”, “X”, “X”… “¡We are X!”

De pronto nuestros oídos, nuestros ojos fueron testigos de lo imposible, Yoshiki se despojaba de su abrigo para tomar lugar frente a la batería, seguido de los legendarios Pata, Heath, Sugizo y Toshi…

“Jade” fue la canción elegida como carta de presentación, todos los asistentes cantábamos eufóricos; era increíble, parecía que nada en el mundo podía superar esa sensación hasta que llegó “Rusty Nail”, sí, la clásica canción que había escuchado años atrás en un casete desmagnetizado, ininteligible, uno que había comprado en una convención de cómics muchos años atrás. Miré alrededor, todos estaban envueltos en la magia del momento, yacíamos allí, en verdadera comunión.

Sugizo, despejando cualquier duda como miembro de la banda, asombró a los presentes mostrando tanto su talento como guitarrista como su virtuosismo al violín, al ejecutar, entre otras piezas, el mismísimo Himno Nacional Mexicano, como muestra de afecto a los fans. Las reacciones no se hicieron esperar, aplausos incontrolables al termino de sus ejecuciones, silencio respetuoso mientras él nos regalaba un momento de tranquilidad y belleza entre la euforia. Los minutos trascurrieron cual agua, todos gozamos y nos estremecimos con canciones como “Drain” o “Born to be free”.

Pero llegó el momento, comenzó a sonar la canción que lleva el nombre del grupo, “X”, su pieza emblemática. Aquella canción que escuchaba cuando algo iba mal, cuando peleaba con gente querida o estaba triste, aquella canción que representa los ideales de cambio de una generación entera.

La multitud despertó como una fiera. Un inmenso grito surgió de miles y miles de gargantas, personas apasionadas por los acordes de unos pocos instrumentos.

No lo podía creer. Mis rodillas temblaron, mi garganta tenía un nudo que solo podía ser liberado cantando y gritando. Brinqué como no lo hacía en mucho tiempo, mientras cruzaba mis brazos en forma de “X” y las lágrimas caían en torrente por los bordes de nuestras mejillas al ver cumplido un sueño colectivo. Fue sin duda el momento más intenso de la noche.

Una pausa. La presentación de los miembros, “¡We are X!, ¡We are X!” fue el grito de guerra mientras Yoshiki se lanzaba a un público hambriento de él, volviendo locos a los fans y a el quipo de seguridad.

De regreso en el escenario, se acababa su voz gritando con el auditorio. En un momento sublime y vertiginoso, Yoshiki arrojaba cosas, mojaba a su público y se entregaba al piso con la fuerza de su voz. Todos los asistentes disfrutábamos cada momento, éramos parte, era real.

X Japan dedicó cálidas palabras de amor por México y se despidió… pero nosotros no, necesitábamos más, aún no pensábamos irnos. El auditorio rugía en espera del pronto reencuentro y después de un corto lapso reapareció el hombre sensación de la noche, Yoshiki, ataviado con un gran sombrero típico mexicano y envuelto por la bandera tricolor agradeció una vez más al público asistente las muestras del cariño recibido. Su piano comenzó a tocar y el resto de grupo se le unió.

Yoshiki mencionó la gran pérdida de dos de sus amigos y ex compañeros de la banda: HIDE por quien los gritos no se hicieron esperar y Taiji quien fue sorprendido hace apenas unos meses por la sombre de la muerte. Notablemente conmovido, el líder comenzó a tocar aquella tonada por todos conocida. “Endless rain” llegó a nosotros y con ella las lágrimas de los pocos que no se habían entregado aún a la melancolía. Finalmente “Art of life” fue la encargada de cerrar el recital de la noche, uno que nadie quería que terminara pero que afrontamos con el espíritu en alto. Todos estábamos satisfechos y felices.

Yoshiki de nuevo se lanzó a su gente complacida por tenerlo entre sus brazos. Y con esto la participación de la banda había concluido, pero de fondo teníamos otra canción emblemática la cual cantamos para ellos “Forever love”. Cada miembro agradeció y con lágrimas aplaudimos los últimos momentos de la banda sobre el escenario, disfrutábamos cada segundo que nos quedaba con ellos y después de unas reverencias y gritos, por fin, se fueron.

Un desfile de zombies aún embelesados comenzaron a desalojar el lugar, todos hablaban de lo especial que había sido, de lo profesional de los músicos, de recuerdos, de deseos, de X Japan. Yo tenia una sensación de triunfo, sí, la organización no fue la mejor, comenzaron una hora y media después del plan, pero, todo, absolutamente todo valió la pena. Fue una de las experiencias auditivas, visuales y corporales más intensas, más sorprendentes, más increíbles por las que he pasado.

Las palabras más precisas para describir dicha experiencia fueron las escritas por el mismo Yoshiki en la mañana siguiente al concierto, vía Facebook: “We Fxxkin ROCKED!! I used every single energy I had in my body…! I can’t even stand up…!”
